A 19th century invention, Ultramarine Blue is a brilliant, essential primary that will make violets with any cool red and is ideal for creating dark neutrals with brown earths.

Intense modern Phthalo Blue offers vivid sapphire tints and mixes cleanly to make violets or greens.

Dating back to 1704, intensely deep genuine Prussian Blue only mixes to the green, producing soft tints and facilitating dark mixtures.

Though not primaries on a pallet, premixed tints of blue can modify and lighten the value of pure blues and other primary colors for unique mixtures.
