Our tribute to the self-taught 19th century painter Henri Rousseau.
This exuberant, lush, pale and very warm olive green summons the richness of Rousseau’s magical tableaux and his skillful use of intense color to hold one’s attention, especially the enormous jungle scenes painted at the end of his career. Celebrated and collected by the giants of 20th century modern art, this former Paris Customs Service worker retired early to live his passion and spend his time painting.
We wish to honor both Rousseau’s dedication to and ingenuity in creating his art with this subtle, mixed warm green that offers endless possibilities on the palette as both a yellow and as a green. Useful for softening overly bright cool colors, especially red violet complements, to create more lifelike hues.
